STONE WALL CLEANING

One area we do a great deal of work during winter months is the cleaning of stone walls. When the vegetation and landscaping dies back, a year's worth of the black mold growth, algae growth, and gray water stains from the rain become an embarrassing eye sore to normally beautiful neighborhoods and luxury homes.

There are handful of methods for cleaning stone walls. A few are partially successful, but an improvement all the same. One method is with various acids available, but they are acids and will kill whatever these acids come into contact with. Another method is to add an agent or chemical. Then a team is require to manually brush the area. This is a lengthy process. The job site quickly becomes more of an eyesore and interruption than the original problem. The run off from these agents and chemicals is detrimental to plant, animal (wild & pets), and water life. The additives will work they way down to enter the soil and surrounding water ways for weeks to follow. Power washing is an option, but still requires an agent or chemical additive. Same surrounding plant, animal, and water life problems with excessive run off, increasing the affected environmental areas.
We remove it. We clean the stone walls on homes, office buildings, neighborhood entries, and perimeter walls with dry ice blasting.

Dry ice blasting is EPA approved. It is environmentally friendly and will not kill vegetation, water life, animals, birds, and surrounding water ways.
The dry ice is the solid form of CO2. The dry ice blasting pellets upon impact, dissipate returning it to gas form. Their is not water introduction with ice blasting. This eliminates the concerns with gates rusting, damage to lighting, gate openers, hinges, cameras, and other electronics in the area.

Dry ice blasting can do in one hour what a team of four or five can do manually with agents or chemical additives taking 4 to 6 hours. The interruption time is considerably less with dry ice blasting.
